The TG Safe Food Wing and enforcement officials inspected six dairy product manufacturing units and one transport location within the CURE limits around Hyderabad on Thursday. The inspections began at 5am.
Officials found several violations during the drive. These included unhygienic manufacturing conditions at the units and the operation of a dairy unit without a Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) licence.
The team also found that dairy products were not stored at the required temperature. This was another violation recorded during the inspections.
Officials found that khoa was packed in plastic covers and brought to Hyderabad in buses and DCM vehicles. Rules require such products to be moved in refrigerated vehicles with cold-storage facilities. The enforcement team seized 3.6 tonnes of khoa that was being transported in buses.
Authorities said some dairy units will be closed. Others will receive show-cause notices or improvement notices over the violations.
The inspections are still under way. The TG Safe Food Wing said it will release further details through a separate press note after inspections at all locations are complete.
