Hyderabad is about to celebrate printmaking, an age-old art form, in a big way. A special exhibition called Edition 2 will open on September 19, 2025, at the Chitramayee State Gallery of Art in Jubilee Hills. This exhibition brings together 30 artists from 14 different states.
Curators Annapurna M. and Attri Chetan have organized this event to showcase how printmaking has evolved from ancient India to today’s vibrant art scene.
The opening ceremony will feature Shilpa Reddy as the Chief Guest, along with Dr. Sanjeev Kishor Goutam, Director General of the National Gallery of Modern Art, as the Guest of Honour. The exhibition will be available for the public until September 28, 2025.
Edition 2 is more than an exhibit; it’s a milestone for Hyderabad. A new public printmaking studio will open at the State Gallery, providing a space for artists and students. Visitors can participate in workshops led by artists and explore a mini print portfolio initiative, learning hands-on about this detailed art form.
Curator Annapurna Madipadiga explains that Edition 2 is about more than displaying art; it’s about reconnecting with the art-making process, blending tradition with new ideas.
This initiative was dreamed up by Attri Chetan, a printmaker and founder of The Unknowns art collective, with key support from Lakshmi, Director of the State Art Gallery. Together, they’ve created a major printmaking exhibition.
As Hyderabad gears up for this event, Edition 2 aims to engage, educate, and inspire, highlighting the timeless yet modern nature of printmaking.
