Hyderabad: Telangana Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar has announced a major cut in the fares of the Metro-RTC combined travel pass. The minister described the reduction as a Diwali gift to commuters in the city. The revised fares will come into effect from November 8.
The daily pass fare has been reduced from ₹400 to ₹275, which saves commuters ₹125. The monthly pass fare has been cut from ₹8,500 to ₹4,000, a saving of ₹4,500.
Under the revised daily pass, ₹200 goes to Hyderabad Metro Rail and ₹75 goes to TGSRTC. The pass allows four single journeys per day.
For the monthly pass, ₹3,000 is allocated to the Metro and ₹1,000 to RTC. The pass allows up to 50 single Metro trips per month. It also offers unlimited travel on RTC buses.
The minister said the government aims to reduce commuters’ travel expenses and make public transport more affordable and accessible.
