The Hyderabad City Police has introduced SOCEYE – Social Media Observation and Cyber Intelligence, an advanced artificial intelligence based application designed to monitor and analyse harmful online content. The technology driven initiative aims to curb the spread of dangerous social media posts and identify cyber troublemakers who could disrupt public order. This move demonstrates the police department’s commitment to adopting cutting edge technologies and leveraging artificial intelligence for policing and public safety.

Traditional methods of monitoring multiple social media platforms and tracking habitual cyber offenders required extensive manpower and continuous manual scrutiny. SOCEYE now enables intelligent automated surveillance, real time analysis, and investigative support through a unified AI driven platform. The system significantly reduces the enormous manual effort involved in round the clock social media monitoring, allowing officers to focus on more critical tasks.

During its pilot phase, SOCEYE demonstrated exceptional success by identifying 85 hateful and communally sensitive posts related to the Puranapul X Road incident earlier this year. The system also detected 126 posts across multiple handles concerning the Gudimalkapur issue. Timely content takedown steps were initiated, ensuring continuity of peace and harmony while identifying troublemakers responsible for spreading inflammatory content.

The application features an Integrated Intelligent Dashboard that consolidates data from multiple sources including Dial-100, internal intelligence alerts, ongoing city events, and other operational feeds. This provides officers with real time situational awareness and a comprehensive operational picture at a single glance. The dashboard enables quick decision making during critical situations and helps coordinate responses effectively.

The Automated Alerts feature continuously monitors social media troublemakers, including communal handles, with top priority given to tracking narcotics related content and issues pertaining to women safety. The underlying AI model intelligently categorises content into High, Medium, and Low risk categories based on the nature and sensitivity of posts. The system identifies child sexual abuse material, cyber bullying, and stalking, generating automatic alerts for immediate action.

SOCEYE includes a Grievance Monitoring and Tracking mechanism that handles complaints reported by the public through official Hyderabad City Police social media handles. The AI model categorises complaints, assigns unique tracking numbers, and enables end to end status monitoring from receipt to disposal. This enhances responsiveness, accountability, and supports data driven policing by analysing recurring issues and frequently reported locations.

The Event Based Social Media Monitoring feature automatically creates monitoring frameworks based on event specific keywords for protests, public gatherings, religious processions, and other city events. The system continuously tracks related social media activity in real time, assisting in early identification of potential threats or developments that may disrupt law and order. This improves preventive policing capabilities while significantly reducing manual workload for officers.

The platform includes Advanced Investigation and Analytical Tools with multiple inbuilt utilities and a repository of social media intelligence and open source intelligence tools. A powerful Global Search Capability enables officers to instantly search public profiles and aggregate all publicly available posts related to specific keywords in real time. This allows quick understanding of emerging narratives and developments, supporting cybercrime investigations and conventional cases involving digital or cyber elements.
