Hyderabad is set to host the famous Fish Prasadam distribution on June 8 and 9, 2025, at the Nampally Exhibition Grounds. The event, led by the Bathini family, offers a traditional remedy to thousands of people suffering from asthma.
Every year, this unique practice draws massive crowds. Many come from across Telangana and neighboring states like Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, and Maharashtra. People believe the remedy, which involves swallowing a live fish filled with herbal paste, helps ease breathing problems.
The Bathini brothers have continued this tradition for an impressive 179 years. Over 4 to 5 lakh people attend the event annually, making it one of the largest alternative medical gatherings in the country.
Preparations for the 2025 distribution are already underway. The family has arranged everything at the venue to handle the expected crowds. They’ve also coordinated with officials to manage logistics and public safety.
Last month, the Bathini family met with the Hyderabad District Collector and the Fisheries Department. They discussed support from the government to ensure a smooth process. They’ve also asked the Telangana government to provide special facilities for people traveling long distances.
This year’s distribution will take place under the supervision of Bathini Vishwanath Goud, continuing the legacy of a remedy that many asthma patients return to year after year.
