Hyderabad, October 23: To tackle the growing traffic chaos in Hyderabad’s IT corridor, especially around IKEA and HITEC City, Cyberabad Traffic Police are planning to introduce “Company Buses” for tech employees. The move aims to reduce the number of private cars and cabs crowding the main roads during peak hours.

According to officials, the number of vehicles entering the IKEA–Raidurg area has sharply increased, leading to long traffic snarls. Over 2.5 lakh vehicles are estimated to pass through these stretches every day. To manage this, police have identified 50 critical junctions in the IT corridor where new traffic regulations and lane controls will be implemented.

The “Company Bus” initiative encourages IT companies to arrange dedicated staff buses for employees, similar to shuttle services, to cut down the number of individual vehicles. This is expected to significantly reduce congestion during office hours.

Authorities said that nearly 30 company buses are expected to start operations soon in areas like IKEA, Mindspace, and Gachibowli. The initiative will make commuting smoother for employees while easing pressure on public roads.

Police have requested IT companies to cooperate and support sustainable travel options to improve traffic flow in the city’s busiest tech hub.
