A seven-storey building in Anjaiah Nagar, Gachibowli, is being demolished by HYDRAA and Cyberabad Municipal Corporation (CMC) after authorities determined it was constructed without proper permissions. The demolition follows a dangerous incident on Saturday when an adjacent illegally constructed building suddenly collapsed onto neighboring structures.
The collapsed structure was reportedly built on just 50 square yards of land without authorization. When it fell, it severely damaged another seven-storey building standing next to it, creating an immediate safety hazard for residents and nearby properties in the Hyderabad locality.
Recognizing the imminent danger posed to surrounding buildings, HYDRAA and CMC officials evacuated all occupants from the damaged seven-storey structure. The authorities are now carefully demolishing the building using heavy machinery, including specialized excavators known as “Bahubali” excavators, to prevent further damage to adjacent properties.
CMC officials confirmed that the building being demolished was constructed without any permissions and posed a serious risk of collapse. Following an assessment of the structural integrity, CMC requested HYDRAA to undertake the demolition work to prevent a potential disaster.
HYDRAA commenced demolition operations on Sunday, implementing careful procedures to ensure the structure does not fall onto neighboring buildings. The operation requires extreme precision as there is minimal gap between the buildings in the densely constructed area of Gachibowli.
The demolition work is proceeding with caution due to the close proximity of surrounding structures. Officials are taking measured steps to dismantle the building systematically, ensuring the safety of nearby residents and preventing collateral damage to adjacent properties during the controlled demolition process.
