Hyderabad witnessed another major anti-encroachment operation as HYDRAA officials conducted a surprise demolition drive at Kotha Cheruvu in Kokapet under Gandipet mandal early this morning. The operation targeted illegal structures built within the protected zones of the lake, marking a significant step in the ongoing efforts to safeguard the city’s water bodies from encroachments.
Authorities identified several illegal structures during their inspection, including massive compound walls and temporary constructions that had been allegedly erected within the Full Tank Level (FTL) and buffer zone limits of the lake. These encroachments violated the regulations meant to protect the lake’s ecological integrity and water storage capacity.
The demolition operation was carried out with heavy police security in place to ensure smooth execution. HYDRAA officials deployed JCB machines and demolished the encroachments on the spot. To prevent further land grabbing activities around the lake, HYDRAA has initiated fencing works around Kotha Cheruvu immediately following the demolition drive.
