Gadwal: The Inspector General (IG) of Multi-Zone 11, Mr. V. Satyanarayana, has taken strict action against police officers who were found to be negligent in their duties. Recently, a significant gambling operation was discovered in the area under Undavalli Police Station near Alampur. The operation involved individuals from Kurnool district, and the district police team conducted a raid to apprehend those involved.
During the raid, allegations of negligence surfaced, prompting Jogulamba Gadwal Superintendent of Police (SP) Mr. Srinivas Rao and other officials to conduct an inquiry. As a result of the investigation, three police officers were found to be at fault. These officers were Jogulamba Gadwal District Special Branch Circle Inspector (CI) Jamulappa, Mahbubnagar District Nawabpet Sub-Inspector (SI) Vikram, and Undavalli SI Srinivasulu.
The investigation revealed that SI Srinivasulu had failed to take action against the large-scale gambling activities within his jurisdiction until the district police team intervened. CI Jamulappa and SI Vikram were found to have indirect connections with the gamblers.
In response, the three officers have been immediately removed from their duties and placed under Vacancy Reserve (VR), with further departmental action to follow. Additionally, Gadwal CI Bhim Kumar has been attached to Multi-Zone 11 VR for failing to effectively manage a recent conflict between two groups during a visit by Tourism Minister Jupally Krishna Rao to Gadwal and Gattu regions.
IG of Police V. Satyanarayana emphasized that negligence or complacency regarding law and order will not be tolerated, as it is a priority for the state government. He also warned that any police officer found to be directly or indirectly involved in illegal activities, such as gambling, PDS rice smuggling, or drug trafficking, will face strict disciplinary action.
