Junior doctors in Hyderabad went on strike on Monday, boycotting outpatient services to protest the government’s delay in paying their stipends and addressing other issues. The doctors demanded a green channel for stipend payments and increased security in hospitals. They gathered at Osmania Medical College to voice their concerns about deteriorating hospital conditions.
The Health Minister assured the doctors of discussions on the green channel but the strike continues until a decision is made. The junior doctors also want Rs 1.25 lakh stipend for super specialty senior residents and action to prevent attacks on doctors. Hospital management has made alternative arrangements to ensure patient care is not affected during the strike.
The junior doctors plan to continue their strike until their demands are met. The hospital superintendent expects the issues to be resolved soon and for the doctors to return to their duties.
