Khammam is becoming an important area for the Congress and the BRS. There is a competition for the 10 Assembly seats in the district. The Congress is happy about Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy joining them, but BRS leader K Chandrashekhar Rao is trying to weaken the Congress in Khammam. The BRS is trying to get leaders from the Congress to join them. It is rumored that about a dozen Congress leaders, including two MLAs, may join the BRS. KCR wants to win over important Congress leaders in different districts. There are speculations about leaders like Damodara Rajanarasimha, N Uttam Kumar Reddy, P Sudarshan Reddy, and Ponnam Prabhakar joining the BRS. Some Congress leaders deny these rumors, but the BRS believes that KCR will be successful in the end.
