K.T. Rama Rao (KTR), the former Telangana minister and current BRS working president, invited Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, to start operations in Hyderabad. This offer followed Altman’s announcement about opening an office in India, and KTR hopes Hyderabad will be the chosen location.
KTR welcomed Altman, mentioning his upcoming visit to India next month. He emphasized Hyderabad’s strategic importance as an entry point to the country. He described the city as a perfect home for companies like OpenAI due to its thriving innovation environment. This includes initiatives such as T-Hub, WE-Hub, T-Works, the Telangana State Innovation Cell, and the Research and Innovation Circle of Hyderabad.
KTR pointed out that many global tech leaders like Microsoft, Google, Amazon, Meta, Apple, and Qualcomm already have a presence in Hyderabad. The city boasts a rich pool of talent in technology and startups. Over the past ten years, the Telangana government has worked hard to transform the state into India’s AI capital. This includes naming 2020 as the “Year of AI” and launching several AI-focused initiatives.
KTR concluded by stating that Hyderabad’s mix of skilled individuals, innovation, groundbreaking research, and global links will be crucial in advancing the AI revolution.
