Hyderabad: KT Rama Rao, the BRS Working President, criticized the Congress government on Tuesday for stopping the KCR Kit scheme. He claimed they did this just because the program is linked to former Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao and brings him goodwill.
At a special event at Telangana Bhavan for the ‘Gift a Smile’ initiative, KTR handed out KCR Kits to mothers and newborns from Hyderabad. On his birthday, he announced plans to distribute 5,000 KCR Kits in Sircilla. He mentioned this was important because many mothers have struggled since the scheme was paused 20 months ago.
KTR remembered the situation before 2014, saying people were scared of government hospitals. However, thanks to KCR’s efforts as Chief Minister, people started trusting these hospitals for childbirth.
The KCR Kits played a key role in improving public healthcare and cutting down on maternal and infant deaths, he noted. They also increased the number of deliveries in government hospitals.
KTR expressed disappointment that the government led by Revanth Reddy halted the KCR Kits. He argued this was not due to a change in policy but because of personal dislike and political hostility toward KCR.
