Hyderabad: Municipal Administration Minister KT Rama Rao praised the Telangana government’s efforts in constructing double bedroom houses, stating that no other state can match their initiative. He urged the public not to be swayed by promises made by leaders from New Delhi and Karnataka. KTR distributed a total of 13,300 houses in the GHMC limits as part of the second phase of the housing program. He handed over pattas to the beneficiaries at the housing colony in Dundigal.

KTR criticized opposition parties, claiming that they never cared for the welfare and development of the people when they were in power. He mentioned that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao is a leader who truly loves the poor, farmers, and dalits. He warned the public to be cautious of leaders from different parties who make false promises before elections.

The minister also expressed pride in Telangana’s double-bedroom housing scheme, which has no parallel in the country. The cost of constructing one lakh double-bedroom houses in Hyderabad is approximately Rs 9,700 crore, but their market value is nearly Rs 50,000 crore to Rs 60,000 crore. The government is providing these houses free of cost to underprivileged people.

KTR announced that 30,000 houses have been distributed so far, and the remaining 70,000 houses will be distributed soon. He highlighted that Telangana’s 2BHK housing program is the largest slum redevelopment program in the country. The allocation process is transparent and involves computer-based draws, with no influence from public representatives.

The minister thanked GHMC officials for their dedication to the project. He also pointed out that none of the Congress or BJP-led state governments have implemented a housing program where free houses are provided to the poor. Interestingly, Congress and BJP leaders themselves are beneficiaries of the double-bedroom houses.
