Hyderabad: BRS Leader Warns of Threats to Telangana's Existence

Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president KT Rama Rao (KTR) strongly criticized the Congress and BJP on Friday, accusing them of threatening Telangana’s self-respect and existence. He referred to the Congress as “Delhi Puppets” and the BJP as “Gujarat Gulams,” claiming both national parties were working against the interests of Telangana.

KTR made these remarks during the ‘Deeksha Diwas’ event, where BRS leaders organized a rally from Basavatarakam Crossroads to Telangana Bhavan. The event marked 15 years since BRS chief K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) began his historic indefinite fast, which played a pivotal role in the formation of Telangana. KTR emphasized the importance of educating future generations about the Telangana movement and honoring the sacrifices made during the struggle for statehood.

During his speech, KTR alleged that the Congress government tried to disrupt the rally by cutting off electricity leading to Telangana Bhavan. He also criticized Congress leader and state CM Revanth Reddy for undermining Telangana’s achievements. “Revanth Reddy claims Telangana would have been begging without Sonia Gandhi, which is an insult to the state’s existence,” said KTR. He also condemned BJP leaders for questioning the formation of Telangana, stating these actions posed a risk to the state’s self-respect.

MLC K Kavitha, who participated in the rally, praised the peaceful and constitutional nature of the Telangana movement. She highlighted the significance of KCR’s fast, calling it a turning point that inspired other movements across the country. “Today, we celebrate not just KCR’s sacrifice but also the progress Telangana has made under his leadership. The Telangana movement stands as a historic example next only to the freedom struggle,” said Kavitha.

The event served as a reminder of the state’s journey, the challenges it overcame, and the ongoing efforts to preserve its self-respect and identity.
