Turkey conducted a drone strike in northern Iraq that killed three fighters from the Sinjar Resistance Units (YBS), an organization affiliated with the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK). The strike occurred at 5:00 a.m. on Tuesday and targeted a YBS headquarters in the Sinjar district. Turkey has been conducting a long-running campaign in Iraq and Syria against the PKK and the Syrian Kurdish YPG militia, which Ankara considers terrorist groups. Turkey frequently carries out air strikes in northern Iraq and has several outposts on Iraqi territory. The YBS is viewed as a connected group to the PKK and YPG, and Turkey has targeted it before, most recently in February.
