Khanapur: State Election Commissioner Rani Kumudini instructed that local body elections be carried out in an organized and careful way.

On Monday, she communicated via video call with election officials and district Collectors from all districts about implementing election rules.

During the meeting, she stressed removing political banners and wall writings as per regulations. She told officials to prepare thoroughly for village-level elections. Staff should be assigned to manage elections for MPTC, ZPTC, ward members, and sarpanches. She highlighted the importance of having enough ballot boxes and polling sites with basic facilities.

Extra police should be present in sensitive areas. The election must be fair and transparent, with strict controls. She ordered setting up checkpoints and inspections near inter-state borders. Surveillance should be increased to prevent voter influence, and flying squads should monitor activities.

After the conference, District Collector Abhilash Abhinav spoke from the Collectorate meeting hall, stating that strong measures are necessary for the district’s elections. She emphasized that elections should proceed smoothly and that officials must strictly follow the election code. She advised police and revenue departments to work together.

The video conference included District SP Janaki Sharmila, Additional Collector for Local Bodies Faizan Ahmad, RDO Ratnakalyani, ZP CEO Govind, DPO Srinivas, and other officials and staff.
