Major Robbery at Local Councillor’s Residence in Shankerpally

Unidentified thieves broke into a house in Shankerpally, a suburb near the city, and stole a large amount of gold and silver ornaments.

The house belongs to P. Balakrishna, a local municipal councillor. The theft happened just days before his daughter’s wedding.

According to the police, the family stored the gold and silver in a cupboard after a marriage-related event on Sunday. Later that evening, they discovered that around 133 tolas of gold and 80 tolas of silver were missing.

Shankerpally Inspector K. Srinivas Goud confirmed that the family reported the theft to the police.

A case has been registered, and the police have started an investigation. Clue teams and fingerprint experts have visited the house to help with the investigation.

The police are now working to identify the thieves and recover the stolen valuables.
