Water Board Managing Director Ashok Reddy has directed officials to prepare a plan to interlink major water reservoirs to strengthen the city’s water supply system and reduce interruptions.
Reddy inspected the newly completed 900 mm-diameter pipeline junction at Khajaguda X Roads on Saturday. During the visit, he asked officials to examine the possibility of bringing Godavari water up to Prasasan Nagar.
The proposed plan will examine links between key sources, including Krishna, Godavari, Manjeera and Osman Sagar, along with other major reservoirs.
Reddy directed officials to develop a system that can supply water from another source when a reservoir or main pipeline is shut down. He said this would help limit disruptions, including during emergency situations.
Related general managers, deputy general managers, managers, Water Board staff and CMC officials took part in the programme. Reddy directed officials to prepare a comprehensive plan for interlinking the reservoirs.
