A group of BJP leaders, led by Namburi Ramalingeswara Rao, met with National ST Commission member Ananth Naik in Khammam on Monday. They asked Naik to help those affected by the Singareni open cast mine in Sathupalli. Naik was in Khammam to review ST development operations in the district. During their meeting, Namburi mentioned the problems faced by STs, and how SCCL had not followed National Green Tribunal orders. He requested that a commission member meet with the affected people to understand their issues and provide compensation and necessary amenities. BJP leaders Nandhu Naik and others were also present.
