Mirza Rehmat Baig, a member of the Telangana Legislative Council, has refused to submit his resignation without certain conditions being met. The senior leader is currently staying at Hotel Gulnar on the seventh floor in Medina, Saudi Arabia, according to recent reports.

The political drama unfolded when Rehmat Baig left Hyderabad on August 27 to perform Umrah. He departed on August 29 at 11:30 AM on Air India flight SV867 to Jeddah. Upon reaching Jeddah airport, the AIMIM close aid to Asaduddin Owaisi instructed him to return to Hyderabad immediately. Following these instructions, he completed his Umrah and returned to Hyderabad within eight hours via a Jeddah-Mumbai-Hyderabad flight.

After his return, Rehmat Baig was presented to the party President Asaduddin Owaisi, shown courtesy, dismissed from the party, and instructed to resign from the Legislative Council. He was expected to submit his resignation to the Telangana Legislative Council on August 29, but did not comply with this directive.

Instead of submitting his resignation, Rehmat Baig booked a ticket from Mumbai to Bengaluru. He traveled by road to Bangalore and then flew to Jeddah from Kempegowda International Airport. His travel route took him from Hyderabad to Jeddah, then to Mecca, and finally to Medina where he is currently residing.

In his statement, Rehmat Baig made it clear that he is ready to resign from his Legislative Council membership only if his demands are fulfilled. He stated that the party did what was in its power, and now he will do what is in his power. He has reportedly communicated to the leadership that no pressure should be applied on him regarding this matter.

According to sources, Rehmat Baig’s stance has created anxiety among party leaders and workers. The situation remains unresolved as the Legislative Council member continues his stay in Medina Munawwara, maintaining his position that he will not resign without conditions being met.
