Jadcherla MLA Raises Concerns Over Lake Encroachments and MUDA Permissions

Jadcherla MLA Anirudh Reddy has expressed serious concerns about the Mahabubnagar Urban Development Authority (MUDA) granting approvals for layouts in ecologically sensitive areas. He alleged that permissions were being issued in the Full Tank Level (FTL) region of Yerra Kunta lake in Balanagar mandal, violating state guidelines. Speaking to The Hans India, Reddy questioned the actions of the MUDA commissioner, accusing the official of ignoring rules and approving layouts without proper inspections.

The MLA cited the example of Spetra Ventures, which was granted layout permissions in the Yerra Kunta FTL area without any field visit by the commissioner. “Our Chief Minister is working hard to protect lakes, ponds, and tanks across Telangana. However, corrupt officials are undermining these efforts by approving layouts in sensitive regions,” Reddy said, criticizing the negligence.

Reddy expressed outrage, stating that such decisions harm the government’s credibility. He instructed officials in his constituency to consult public representatives and conduct thorough local inquiries before granting permissions. “If this continues, it’s the public who will suffer, and the government that will be embarrassed,” he warned.

The MLA also criticized MUDA for allegedly misusing ₹30 crore intended for Jadcherla’s development. He accused officials of spending the funds on superficial activities, such as painting flyover walls and planting trees along road dividers. “Under the previous BRS regime, ₹50 lakh was spent on wall paintings and watering plants on road medians, while essential infrastructure needs were ignored,” Reddy said.

Highlighting the lack of genuine progress, Reddy noted that Jadcherla is entitled to 30% of MUDA’s annual funds for infrastructure projects like roads, drains, and water supply. However, he claimed that no funds had been allocated for real developmental activities in the last five years. “Not a single rupee has gone toward improving essential infrastructure in Jadcherla,” he alleged.

The MLA issued a strong warning to MUDA officials, urging them to prioritize transparency and accountability in their decisions. He insisted that public funds and permissions should only be granted after consulting local representatives. “Unilateral decisions by MUDA officials are unacceptable. Their negligence and corruption will create more problems for the public and erode trust in governance,” Reddy concluded.
