Wanaparthy Aims to Be Tuberculosis-Free with New Initiative
Wanaparthy District Collector Adarsh Surabhi has announced a 100-day program to diagnose and combat tuberculosis (TB) in the region. The program features a cutting-edge mobile X-ray machine, purchased for Rs. 20 lakhs, to help identify TB cases in the community and work toward making the district tuberculosis-free.
During the launch of the mobile X-ray machine on Tuesday at his office, Collector Surabhi stressed the importance of early detection. He urged residents, especially those showing symptoms like persistent cough and fever, to take advantage of this free service. He also highlighted that, while market rates for X-rays often exceed Rs. 500, this initiative aims to provide the diagnostic tests without any cost to the public.
The program will conduct field tests across the district over the next 100 days, ensuring that even people in remote areas have access to timely medical care. To demonstrate his support and the simplicity of the process, Collector Surabhi underwent an X-ray himself during the inauguration ceremony.
Several key health officials were present at the event, including District Medical Health Officer Dr. Srinivas, Program Officer Dr. Sainath Reddy, and Dr. Parimala. Their presence underscored the collective commitment to addressing tuberculosis as a public health concern.
Residents are strongly encouraged to participate in the screening program. This initiative is part of a broader effort to improve public health outcomes and make Wanaparthy a healthier, TB-free district.
