Hyderabad: The Telangana Government plans to create a new DISCOM to manage power supply for agriculture, major and minor lift irrigation, and drinking water in rural areas and within the GHMC limits.
The Energy Department has drafted an initial plan for this new DISCOM, alongside TGSPDCL and TGNPDCL. Officials presented this plan to Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy during an Energy Department review meeting on Tuesday.
The Chief Minister proposed dividing the current two DISCOMs into three. He instructed officials to resolve issues like PPA allocation, staff division, assets, and dues for the third DISCOM.
The state cabinet will soon approve the creation of the new DISCOMs. Revanth Reddy urged authorities to quickly finalize a comprehensive plan for the new setup.
