Organizers hold workshop on managing solid and plastic waste in Hyderabad

A workshop was held in Hyderabad to celebrate World Environment Day 2023. The workshop focused on innovative and cost-effective ways to manage solid waste and plastic waste. The workshop was inaugurated by MA&UD Special Chief Secretary Arvind Kumar on Sunday. Attendees included A Vani Prasad, Principal Secretary to Government of Telangana & Director General, EPTRI, Dr N Satyanarayana, C&DMA, Commissioners, Municipal Commissioners, Environmental Engineers, and Sanitary Inspectors.

During the workshop, Arvind Kumar stated that the State government has taken many initiatives in solid waste management, including plastic waste. He also mentioned that Faecal Sludge Treatment Plants (FSTPs) are being installed in all the Urban Local Bodies (ULBs).

Vani Prasad highlighted that resource efficiency and circular economy are essential. She added that EPTRI has established a Waste Recycling Complex (WRC) and will support municipalities in establishing similar centers to promote zero waste concepts.
