    On Wednesday, Rahul Gandhi spoke to startup founders in Silicon Valley about the need for regulations on data safety and security. He emphasized that rules for privacy of data information are necessary for both individuals and as a nation. He also joked that he knew his phone was being tapped and said “Hello! Mr Modi” on his iPhone.

    Gandhi also discussed how technology can be made accessible to people in rural India. He stated that if a nation state decides to tap someone’s phone, nobody can stop it from happening. He believes that the government can use anything he does or produces.

    During his 10-day trip to the United States, Gandhi spent time at the Plug and Play auditorium listening to experts talk about artificial intelligence, big data, and machine learning. They discussed the impact of these technologies on governance, social welfare programs, and misinformation.
