Police received a complaint on June 26 from Gopal Taparia, a resident of Anand Nagar. Gopal runs a business called Manbhavana Chit Fund Private Ltd., with branches in Abids and Ranigunj.

Jethin worked as a collection boy for Gopal for six months. On June 25, he was sent from the Abids office to Jubilee Hills to collect money from Pankaj Agarwal. Jethin collected Rs 17 lakh at the temple and put the cash in a bag.

K Shilpa Valli, DCP Central Zone, stated that Gopal called Jethin to check his whereabouts. Jethin claimed he was in Himayatnagar and would arrive in 15 minutes, but he never showed up. After 20 minutes, Jethin’s phone was off. Later, Jethin’s father informed Gopal that Jethin had an accident at Upper Tank Bund and the cash bag was missing.

Local investigations and CCTV footage revealed that Jethin fabricated the theft story. He had fallen from his bike at Tank Bund but actually gave the cash to Abhilash. Jethin then went to Gandhi hospital and pretended to be a victim at the police station.

Upon further questioning, Jethin admitted the bag was at his house. The police recovered Rs 14,50,000 from the bag, and Abhilash was caught with Rs 2,50,000.

Thanks to the police’s quick action, the entire amount was recovered within two hours.
