Hyderabad: Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Bandi Sanjay Kumar, has criticized the Congress-led Telangana State government. He suggested that the government should observe ‘Praja Vanchana Dinotsavam’ (People Deception Day) instead of ‘Praja Palana Dinotsavam’ (People’s Governance Day).

Speaking to the media after inaugurating an exhibition on the Telangana Liberation, marking Telangana Liberation Day on September 17, he questioned why the State government does not officially celebrate this day. The event was held by the Centre to honor the liberation of Telangana.

Bandi Sanjay accused the Congress party of deceiving the people of Telangana for 50 years. He said it would be more appropriate for the Congress to commemorate a “Deception Day” due to their actions in the past.

The Karimnagar MP also criticized the Congress for associating with a party linked to the Razakars, a group that was responsible for atrocities against the people of Telangana during the Nizam rule.

Additionally, BJP MP and national president of the party’s OBC Morcha, Dr. K Laxman, called for the inclusion of the Telangana Liberation Struggle in the school curriculum. He pointed out that the Central government has been celebrating Telangana Liberation Day to recognize the efforts and sacrifices made to merge the erstwhile Nizam State with the Indian Union.

The BJP leaders accused the Congress of suppressing Telangana’s liberation history for the past 75 years. Responding to Congress claims that the BJP has no right to celebrate Telangana Liberation Day, they questioned why Congress itself has not been celebrating the day if it claims sole ownership of the event.
