Gadwal:
During a meeting held in Gattu mandal, Jogulamba Gadwal district, Kommula Praveen Raj, the President of the Teenmaar Mallanna Team (Jogulamba Gadwal District), spoke about the exploitation happening in private hospitals. He called for immediate action to ensure that price lists for treatments and services are clearly displayed in these hospitals.

Praveen Raj highlighted that patients visiting private hospitals for common illnesses like fevers are being charged high fees for unnecessary tests, especially blood tests. He pointed out that during the rise of viral fevers, hospitals often claim that patients’ platelet levels have dropped, causing unnecessary worry. He also accused private hospitals of exaggerating the threat of dengue and recommending costly procedures like scans and X-rays for minor health issues.

He criticized the lack of price regulations, which allows private hospitals to take advantage of patients. Praveen Raj stressed that it is the responsibility of higher authorities to oversee these practices, but they are failing to do so.

He called for this to be implemented not just in Jogulamba Gadwal district but across the entire state. He also pointed out that some hospitals are charging excessive fees under the pretense of medical tests and treatments.

According to him, private hospitals are legally required to publicly show the prices of all medical tests and treatments. If they don’t comply, notices should be issued and their licenses could be revoked if necessary. He urged the government to take strict action on this issue.

The meeting was attended by Neel Narasimhulu, Tirumalesh, and other participants.
