New Delhi: PV Sindhu, a double Olympic medalist, found herself stuck at Dubai airport on Saturday. She was traveling to the All England Open badminton tournament, which starts next Tuesday. Her journey was interrupted because flights were halted due to rising tensions in the Middle East.
Sindhu shared her experience on Instagram with a video showing a busy airport. She mentioned that “all flights are suspended until further notice.”
The situation escalated when the US and Israel launched a significant military action against Iran. American President Donald Trump urged the Iranian people to overthrow their government, in power since 1979.
These military actions led to airspace closures in the Gulf region, causing flight disruptions. Airlines like Emirates and Air India were affected. Air India announced the cancellation of all its flights to and from the Gulf, including destinations like Abu Dhabi, Dammam, Doha, Dubai, Jeddah, Muscat, Riyadh, and Tel Aviv.
Dubai airport halted all operations indefinitely due to the airspace closure following these missile strikes involving the US, Israel, and Iran.
