In a shocking incident, a rabid dog attacked five people in the Old Police Station Colony of Aija Municipality. Among the victims was a young boy named Harikrishna, who suffered a severe injury to his left-hand finger.

Harikrishna was quickly taken to Kurnool Government Hospital for treatment. The other victims received Anti-Rabies Vaccination (ARV) at the local Primary Health Center (PHC) before being sent home.

Residents blame the growing problem of stray dogs on the negligence and corruption of municipal officials. They claim that due to inaction, mutton, chicken, and fish shops have been allowed to operate along both sides of the main road. These shops attract stray dogs, increasing the risk of attacks.

People also point out that stray dogs have caused multiple road accidents in the past, leading to the loss of lives, especially among bike riders. Despite this, the authorities have failed to take necessary steps to control the issue.

Adding to public frustration, an Integrated Veg & Non-Veg Market, built at a significant cost, remains unused. Many see this as an example of poor administration.

Citizens are now urging District Collector BM Santosh to take immediate action against negligent municipal officers. They demand better governance to prevent further incidents and ensure public safety.
