Hyderabad: Residents in Hyderabad are frustrated with the city’s roads, which remain in poor condition despite recent repairs. The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) claims it has fixed nearly 11,500 out of over 14,000 identified potholes. However, locals say the roads are still hazardous and want immediate action.

In recent days, people driving through the city have encountered roads filled with potholes, making travel difficult and dangerous. Though some repairs were done, rain has washed away many of these fixes. Kaparthi Srikanth, from Lal Darwaza, mentioned that repairs on Shalibanda main road before the Ganesh immersion did not last long, causing bikes to skid.

Residents also noted that even routes used for the Ganesh procession were not properly repaired. Despite GHMC’s claims of repairs along the procession paths, issues persisted. C Shailender reported problems along the Santosh Nagar-Saidabad stretch, where poor road conditions slowed traffic during the procession.

Activist Mohammed Ahmed, from Shalibanda, criticized the GHMC, saying that the Charminar south zone roads are in terrible shape with large potholes causing traffic jams and commuter inconvenience. He accused zone officers of ignoring these issues despite being aware of them.

Many residents have turned to social media to vent their frustrations, sharing images and videos of the pothole-filled roads. One commuter described driving in the city as a “nightmare” in a post on X.
