Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu stated that the government is getting ready for potential floods in Kothagudem. He, along with district in-charge Minister Komatireddy Venkata Reddy, Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, and Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao, attended a floods review meeting led by the district Collector Jitesh V Patil. The Collector briefed the ministers on the precautions and steps being taken to address the threat of floods.
Bhatti emphasized that no lives should be endangered by the floods. He stressed the importance of all district officials being well-prepared and developing an action plan to ensure that necessary facilities and services are provided to the people affected by floods. The government’s aid to flood victims should be uplifting to their morale, he added.
Komatireddy urged the Roads Building and Panchayat Raj departments to remain vigilant during emergencies and promptly repair drainage systems and roads. Ponguleti instructed officials to take precautions to protect farmers from suffering losses in case of floods in the Godavari region. Tummala directed officials to ensure that suitable motors are available to pump water away from Bhadrachalam Ramalayam to prevent surrounding areas from flooding.
Officials were also reminded by Tummala that the police must be alert to rescue individuals trapped in floods and provide them with food supplies.
