The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) may become a point of disagreement between Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan and the state government. The government has sent a draft bill called the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (Absorption of Employees into Government Service) Bill 2023 to the Governor for approval. However, the Governor has not responded to the draft bill yet. The Governor’s office says they are obtaining legal opinion and cannot rush the process. This raises doubts about whether the bill will be introduced in the ongoing session of the Assembly.

The Chief Minister is also consulting legal experts to resolve the deadlock on the approval of the draft bill. The Chief Minister wants to complete the merger of the RTC with the government by the end of August. If the approval is delayed, it may not be possible to do so until a new government is formed, as the code of conduct may come into effect once the poll notification is issued. The notification is expected in October.
