Global healthcare giant Roche has announced the establishment of its second digital technology hub in Hyderabad, expanding its technological presence in India alongside its existing facility in Pune. The company has not disclosed specific details regarding the investment amount or planned hiring numbers for the new facility. According to an official statement from the multinational corporation, the Hyderabad tech hub is scheduled to become fully operational in the first quarter of 2027. This strategic expansion marks a significant step in Roche’s commitment to strengthening its digital capabilities in the Indian market.
Ramesh Durvasula, who serves as Chief Data Officer and Chief AI Officer at Roche, emphasized the hub’s role in driving healthcare innovation through technology. He stated that the new site will focus on creating scalable data-driven innovations designed to advance patient care. Raja Jamalamadaka, Vice-President and Site Head for Roche’s Pune and Hyderabad locations, highlighted the strategic importance of the expansion by noting that scaling their footprint will enhance the company’s capability to orchestrate seamless, next-generation digital and technology solutions.
The two digital technology hubs in India will accommodate specialized teams responsible for delivering comprehensive IT services and digital applications across multiple critical areas. These include biostatistics, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), and medical safety systems, in addition to broader life sciences applications. The facilities are designed to support Roche’s global operations while leveraging India’s robust technology talent pool and innovation ecosystem.
The establishment of the Hyderabad hub reflects the growing importance of India as a strategic location for global pharmaceutical and healthcare companies seeking to enhance their digital transformation initiatives.
