In Hyderabad, something special happened as Surya Nagar Colony in Shaikpet celebrated Independence Day. Residents invited garbage collectors and sweepers to raise the national flag, recognizing them as the real heroes of the community. Over 5,000 residents participated, turning the day into a symbol of unity.
The scene was moving as the national flag went up. The honored sanitation workers had tears in their eyes, and the crowd responded with applause, showing strong support.
The event wasn’t just about the flag. It included sports activities for both young and old, 40 free blood tests, and a community breakfast, creating a joyful and united atmosphere.
Asif Sohail, who leads the Jubilee Hills Constituency 300 Colonies Forum, spoke at the event. He emphasized the importance of sanitation workers, saying they are essential every day for keeping streets clean and homes healthy. He reminded everyone that the Constitution declares equality, and this event proved that these workers are part of the community.
Recently, local leaders attacked sanitation workers in the area, bringing more attention to the issue beyond Shaikpet. Residents have pledged to stand together, ensuring any harm to community workers will be met with unity and broader awareness.
