Singareni CMD N Balaram has emphasized the growing demand for key minerals like lithium, cobalt, and nickel due to the rise in battery vehicles and solar power. He stated that public sector enterprises must focus on self-sufficiency to meet this demand.
Speaking at the National Conference on Key Minerals in Hyderabad, organized by the Critical Minerals Association of India, Balaram highlighted India’s goal of becoming carbon-neutral by 2070. He stressed the importance of reducing mineral imports and increasing domestic production.
He pointed out that the Central government has identified 30 critical minerals that need attention. Balaram urged industries to take this as an opportunity to boost domestic production and help meet the country’s growing needs.
To support this initiative, Singareni has already taken a step forward. The company signed an agreement with IIT Hyderabad in the first week of January to work on the production of critical minerals.
