Hyderabad: The Commissioner of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), K Ilambarithi, along with the Commissioner of Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA), Sarfaraz Ahmed, inspected several important infrastructure projects in Greater Hyderabad on Wednesday. They focused on the incomplete major flyover projects. Ilambarithi directed officials to speed up the completion of these flyovers, which are part of the Strategic Road Development Plan (SRDP).
The SRDP was created to ensure smoother, signal-free traffic flow in the city. This is being done through the construction of grade separators and by widening roads at key junctions to reduce traffic congestion.
During the inspection, Ilambarithi and Sarfaraz reviewed several ongoing projects. These included the second phase of the Shilpa Layout flyover, which will connect Gachibowli to Kondapur, the Aramghar-Zoo Park flyover in Bahadurpura, and the Shastripuram Railway Over Bridge (RoB).
At the Gachibowli Shilpa Layout Phase 2 flyover site, engineering officials informed the commissioner that there were delays due to the need to relocate a 33 KV power line. This delay affected other work, such as the stormwater drain, culvert, and ramp construction.
In response, Ilambarithi instructed the officials of the Telangana Southern Power Distribution Company to quickly remove the power line. He also told the engineering teams to speed up the remaining work on the flyover.
The commissioner also stressed the importance of speeding up land acquisition for the Aramghar-Zoo Park flyover. In addition, he urged the railway authorities to complete the Shastripuram railway over bridge without further postponements.
Ilambarithi was accompanied by several senior officials during the inspection, including Project Chief Engineer Devanand, Zonal Commissioner Upender Reddy, Deputy Executive Engineer Srilakshmi, and representatives from TGSPDCL.
Meanwhile, work continues on six other flyovers and road over bridges in different parts of the city, all part of the SRDP. These projects include flyovers at Shilpa Layout, Gachibowli Junction, Nalgonda X Roads-Owaisi Junction, Aramghar-Zoo Park, Uppal Junction, and road over bridges at Falaknuma and Shastripuram.
Out of the 42 projects proposed under the SRDP, 36 have already been completed, while 6 are currently at various stages of construction.
