Milk Adulteration Unit Raided in Rangareddy
In Rangareddy district, reports of adulterated milk being sold in the market prompted a raid by the State Food Safety Wing’s Task Force team. On Monday, officials inspected a milk production unit and found multiple violations, leading to the seizure of products.
The surprise raid caused panic among other milk product sellers in the district. Many shops and units were found closed suddenly, likely to avoid scrutiny.
The raid took place at a milk manufacturing center in Pasumamula village of Abdullapurmet mandal. The unit, operating under the name All Rich Dairy Private Limited (white brand milk and curd), was found to be running without a proper license from the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI). Officials noted that the products lacked essential labeling and information required for public safety.
Authorities also discovered that the milk and dairy products were being prepared in highly unhygienic conditions using corroded machinery. The storage practices were alarming, with unsafe products kept in refrigerators alongside harmful chemicals. Uncapped milk and yogurt cartons were found in dirty corners, and utensils used in production were in a poor state.
The task force issued notices to the unit owner for violating the Food Safety and Standards Act (FSS Act) of 2006. Several edible items, including 280 kilograms of ghee worth ₹1,68,000 and 350 kilograms of cream, were seized. Additionally, officials confiscated 850 kilograms of caustic soda worth ₹22,750, suspected to be used in product preparation, and destroyed it on-site.
Samples of milk and ghee from the unit were sent to a lab for testing. Officials stated that if the products are found to be adulterated, strict action will be taken.
V Jyotirmayi, head of the State Food Safety Task Force, emphasized the importance of public safety. “We will take strict action against food adulteration. Criminal cases will be filed against businesses that fail to follow the rules or operate without proper licenses. If necessary, such units will be shut down,” she warned.
The raid highlights the government’s commitment to tackling food safety violations and protecting consumers from harmful products.
