The Telangana Crime Investigation Department (CID) has successfully cracked an international betting racket linked to Dafabet, arresting 11 individuals during a comprehensive 15-day pan-India operation. The multi-state crackdown covered Delhi, Gujarat, and Punjab, targeting key operatives involved in the illegal betting network. Authorities have frozen 46 mule bank accounts used for channeling illegal funds, dealing a significant blow to the organized betting syndicate.

According to investigation reports, the organizers of this illegal betting operation were earning between ₹8 to ₹10 lakh per day through their network. The Dafabet platform has been linked to 225 complaints and 73 criminal cases registered across eight states in India. The scale of the operation highlights the extensive reach of online betting networks and their impact on unsuspecting participants across the country.

The Telangana CID has registered a total of 414 online betting cases and identified 108 betting applications operating in the state. As part of their intensified crackdown, authorities have worked in coordination with Internet Service Providers (ISPs) to geofence 37 betting apps, restricting their access and operations within the region. This technical intervention marks a significant step in curbing the digital infrastructure supporting illegal gambling activities.

In a notable move against the promotion of betting platforms, the CID has counseled 25 celebrities and influencers who were found promoting betting platforms on social media and other channels. Officials have issued clear warnings that repeat violations will invite strict action, including legal proceedings. This initiative aims to cut off the promotional channels that lure youth and vulnerable individuals into illegal betting activities.

CID Chief Charu Sinha emphasized that Telangana is intensifying its crackdown on online betting networks operating across India. The department has adopted a multi-pronged approach that includes technological intervention, inter-state coordination, and public awareness campaigns to combat the growing menace of online gambling. The recent operation demonstrates the state’s commitment to dismantling organized betting syndicates at their operational and financial core.

The investigation continues as authorities work to trace additional links in the network and identify more individuals involved in the illegal betting operations. The CID has urged citizens to report any suspicious betting activities and avoid participating in such platforms, which operate in violation of Indian laws. The department has set up dedicated helplines and online portals for registering complaints related to online betting and cyber crimes.
