Hyderabad: Booth-level officers (BLOs) across Telangana will commence door-to-door visits from Thursday to distribute and collect enumeration forms as part of the special intensive revision (SIR) of the electoral roll. The exercise, which will continue for the next month, will see BLOs visiting each household at least three times to ensure comprehensive coverage. Voters are not required to submit any documents during this initial stage of the process.

Each BLO will carry two enumeration forms for every voter, with one copy being provided to the voter as an acknowledgement. The officers will guide residents in filling out the forms with relevant details. Voters are not obligated to return the completed forms immediately and can submit them during subsequent visits by the BLO. If a house is found locked during the first visit, the BLO will make a third attempt to reach the household. The distribution phase has been allocated one week, with collection scheduled to continue until July 24.

According to the electoral roll from the 2024 Lok Sabha election, Telangana has an estimated 3.4 crore voters. The SIR process is expected to conclude on October 1 with the publication of the updated electoral roll. Voters who do not receive enumeration forms can contact their designated BLO through contact numbers available on https://ceotelangana.nic.in or use the ‘Book a call’ with BLO option on https://voters.eci.gov.in or the ECINET App.

The state has deployed a substantial workforce for the smooth execution of this phase. A total of 35,985 BLOs, along with 3,596 BLO supervisors, 882 assistant electoral registration officers (AEROs), 119 EROs, and 33 district election officers (DEOs) are working across Telangana. Each BLO will be responsible for covering not more than 1,200 voters within a two-km radius. Electoral Registration Officers and district collectors are overseeing the distribution process to ensure accuracy and efficiency.

Voters in Hyderabad district will receive enumeration forms in English, while residents in the rest of Telangana will get forms in Telugu. The language-specific distribution aims to make the process more accessible and user-friendly for all sections of the population. Officials have emphasized that the process has been designed to be convenient for voters, with multiple opportunities to submit completed forms.

Recognised political parties have also deployed nearly 49,000 booth level agents (BLAs) to coordinate with BLOs on the ground. Each BLA is permitted to submit up to 50 enumeration forms per day after scrutinizing voter information. These agents are officially recognised by the Election Commission and are encouraged to take an active role in the process, coordinating during field visits to ensure comprehensive voter registration and accurate data collection.
