Hyderabad: BJP MP Raghunandan Rao's Case Dismissed by High Court

The Telangana High Court has dismissed a case against BJP Medak MP M. Raghunandan Rao. The case was filed against him for allegedly violating election rules during the 2021 Nagarjunasagar Assembly byelection campaign.

The complaint was made by Peddavoora Mandal Parishad Development Officer D. Shyam. He accused Rao of attending public meetings and election events in Vutlapally and Pulicherla villages without proper permission from authorities. The case was being heard in a special court in Hyderabad that deals with cases involving MLAs and MPs.

Justice K. Lakshman ruled in favor of Raghunandan Rao, canceling the charges against him. This decision is seen as a major relief for the BJP leader, who has been involved in several political controversies in Telangana.

With the case now dismissed, Rao can continue his political activities without legal issues from the 2021 election campaign. The ruling also raises questions about how election rules are enforced and whether such cases are sometimes used for political purposes in competitive elections.
