The Telangana government has decided to hold local body elections in September. This decision came after the cabinet, led by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, approved the move. They plan to inform the Election Commission about the election schedule soon.
In a meeting held at the Assembly Committee Hall, the cabinet decided to remove the cap on local election reservations. They also proposed Azharuddin and Kodandaram for the Governor’s Quota MLCs. Discussions included providing 42% reservations for BCs and offering help to farmers impacted by recent rains and floods. The cabinet passed a resolution to request financial aid from the Central Finance Ministry for losses in crops and infrastructure.
The cabinet emphasized its promise to conduct elections by the September 30 deadline set by the High Court. This move aims to address ongoing political and social issues effectively.
