    The State government in Telangana is inviting applications for setting up liquor shops. When the Excise Department announced that licenses for liquor shops were available, they received a huge response. On Friday alone, they received 25,925 applications, bringing the total number of applications to 69,965 so far.

    Last year, the government made Rs.1,357 crores just through applications. This year, they have already generated more than Rs.1,399 crores in revenue from applications.

    The deadline for applications is August 18, and it is expected that there will be a flood of applications before then. Since August 4, they have been accepting applications for 2,620 liquor shops in Telangana. Candidates are required to pay a non-refundable application fee of Rs.2 lakh.
