Telangana to begin Haritha Haram program from today.

The Telangana Formation Day celebrations are coming to an end in Hyderabad. The government has been organizing events since June 2nd to show the progress the state has made in different sectors over the last nine years. On Sunday, the Telangana Drinking Water Festival was celebrated, and on Monday, a tree plantation drive will take place under the Haritha Haram programme. The government wants to plant around 19.50 crore saplings throughout the state. The plantation programme will begin in all villages and towns under the Telangana Green Festival (Haritha Utsavam). The Chief Minister, K Chandrasekhar Rao, will launch Haritha Utsavam by planting saplings at an urban park in Tummaluru village in Rangareddy district. The Forest department has arranged for 25,000 saplings to be planted in 25 acres. The District Collectors have been briefed about Harita Utsavam and other plantation programmes.

All government offices and other institutions will be covered under the programme, and achievements of the government will be showcased. Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari has said that all urban parks will have free entry on the day, and the public should be encouraged to visit them. She also emphasized the importance of sensitizing the public about the significance of plantation so that the programme is sustained. In 2015, the state government launched Haritha Haram to increase the green cover. Since then, they have planted 273 crore saplings under this drive.
