Forest officials recently inspected the facilities at Kakatiya Zoo Park in Warangal. They have been eagerly waiting for the arrival of tigers at the zoo. Environment, Forests, and Endowments Minister Konda Surekha has intervened to make this happen. Chief Wildlife Warden M C Pargaien mentioned that efforts are being made to send a tiger, Indian Bison, hog deer, and barking deer to the zoo.
The new additions are expected to arrive by April 1. The tiger enclosure and leopard enclosure are already prepared for their arrival. Pargaien inaugurated the birds enclosure and a battery-run vehicle at the zoo. He also discussed plans to enhance the zoo’s aesthetics based on suggestions from Minister Konda Surekha. Funding from individuals and organizations is being sought for these improvements.
Additionally, ecotourism camping was inaugurated at Puli Madugu in the Gudur forest area. A state-wide ‘Catch the Trap’ drive has been launched to prevent the killing or hunting of wild animals. A review meeting was held to discuss the facilities and development of Pakala Wildlife Sanctuary. Chief conservator Bhima Naik, Warangal DFO Bhukya Lavanya, Chandrasekhar, and Krishnamachary were also present at the event.
