Traffic came to a standstill on Hyderabad’s PVNR Expressway after two cars collided near the Dairy Farm area in Rajendranagar on Thursday. The accident, which occurred due to alleged overspeeding, left three people injured and caused severe traffic congestion in the area.
The collision took place on the busy expressway, disrupting the normal flow of vehicles during peak hours. Witnesses at the scene reported that the impact was significant, causing damage to both vehicles involved in the crash.
Three people sustained injuries in the accident and were immediately shifted to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. The extent of their injuries has not been officially disclosed by authorities at this time.
Following the incident, traffic police rushed to the spot to manage the situation and clear the road. The accident resulted in heavy congestion between Upperpally and Aramghar crossroads, affecting commuters traveling on this crucial route.
The PVNR Expressway, named after former Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao, is one of the major arterial roads in Hyderabad connecting various parts of the city. It witnesses heavy traffic throughout the day, especially during morning and evening rush hours.
Overspeeding has been identified as the primary cause of the accident. Traffic police have been repeatedly warning motorists about maintaining speed limits on the expressway to prevent such incidents.
The congestion caused by the accident led to long queues of vehicles on both sides of the expressway. Commuters faced significant delays in reaching their destinations as traffic police worked to clear the damaged vehicles and restore normal traffic flow.
Police personnel diverted traffic to alternate routes to ease the congestion while the accident site was being cleared. The operation took considerable time as authorities ensured the safety of other motorists passing through the area.
This incident highlights the ongoing concerns about road safety on Hyderabad’s major expressways. Traffic authorities have been conducting regular awareness campaigns and enforcement drives to curb overspeeding and reckless driving on city roads.
