The Excise State Task Force conducted a successful operation near Kondapur, busting an alleged ganja-selling racket that was being run from hotel rooms. Officials seized 17.1 kg of ganja valued at approximately ₹9 lakh from the OU Highlights hotel located near Kondapur Government Hospital. Two men from Assam, identified as Dheeraj Das (39) and Rabali Ali (25), were arrested in connection with the illegal operation.
According to excise officials, both the accused had previously worked as security guards in Hyderabad. The investigation revealed that the duo allegedly brought large quantities of ganja from their home state of Assam to the city. They had been operating from rented rooms at the hotel, where they reportedly repacked the contraband into smaller packets for distribution and sale.
The operation was led by Circle Inspector Venkateshwarlu and his team from the State Task Force. The team acted on credible intelligence and raided the hotel premises, where they discovered the accused in possession of the contraband. The modus operandi involved using the hotel rooms as a base to store, repack, and sell the illegal substance to customers in the area.
Following the seizure, both the accused persons along with the confiscated 17.1 kg of ganja were handed over to the Kondapur Excise Station for further investigation and legal proceedings. The arrested individuals are currently in custody as authorities continue to probe the extent of the network and identify potential customers and suppliers involved in the racket.
