Hyderabad: Rachakonda Police Commissioner Tarun Joshi has suspended two police officers for allegedly stealing money seized during vehicle checks before the Lok Sabha elections. The suspended officers are head constable Sai Kumar and constable Karthik, both from the Rachakonda Armed Reserve.

The officers had stopped two individuals, Krishna and Srikanth, and confiscated Rs 25 lakh at Karimguda in Medipally. However, they only reported seizing Rs 19 lakh, leading to suspicions of pocketing the remaining amount. Srikanth reported the discrepancy to higher authorities, prompting an investigation.

After the inquiry, Commissioner Joshi placed the head constable and constable under suspension. Additionally, a friend of the officers, Ranjith, who allegedly provided information about the cash transport, died by suicide recently. His family suggested that he was distressed by the situation and took his own life.
