University of Hyderabad and ARCI sign agreement for advanced materials research

Hyderabad: The International Advanced Research Centre for Powder Metallurgy and New Materials (ARCI) in Hyderabad and the School of Engineering Sciences and Technology (SEST) at the University of Hyderabad have strengthened their partnership. They signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance research and innovation in India.

The agreement was signed on Thursday by Dr. R. Vijay, Director of ARCI, and Dr. Devesh Nigam, Registrar of UoH. Key attendees included Prof. J. Gautam, Prof. S.L. Sabat, and other faculty members like Prof. V.V.S.S. Srikanth and Prof. K.V. Rajulapati.

This MoU sets a structure for significant research and development projects, internships for M.Tech. and Ph.D. students, and faculty exchanges. It also encourages joint publications and technology sharing. The collaboration aims to blend academic research with practical applications, fostering an innovative environment. SEST has greatly benefited from ARCI’s support, with contributions from influential figures such as Prof. Palle Rama Rao and Prof. G. Sundararajan.

The partnership was cultivated under the guidance of SEST’s first deans, Prof. Joshi and Prof. K. Bhanu Sankara Rao. ARCI’s senior scientists, including Dr. Roy Johnson and Dr. D. S. Rao, have been instrumental in this collaboration. Notably, about 25 ARCI research fellows have completed their PhDs at UoH, highlighting the alliance’s success.
